John McAfee, the anti-virus software creator, is on the run after he became a ”person of interest” in the shooting death of his neighbor Gregory Viant Faull in Belize.

STORY: Oh Damn! Millionaire Internet Software Creator Wanted In Murder

Not only is McAfee a fugitive, but according to online postings, he admitted that he experimented with the dangerous drug known as bath salts.

On a drug-friendly Russian message board, McAfee wrote:

“I’m a huge fan of MDPV. I think it’s the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown.”

According to Radar Online, McAfee bought the drugs online and worked in a makeshift lab in a hut to purify them.

As for the murder, McAfee claims he is innocent in the slaying of his neighbor in Belize, but says that the local police have been on a vicious hunt to bring him into custody.

McAfee reportedly told Wired magazine on Monday that he had nothing to do with Faull’s death and feared police would kill him if they find him.

Asked what he knows about the shooting, McAfee said, “Nothing — other than I heard he had been shot.” In fact, McAfee added, he’s worried that whoever shot Faull may have actually been gunning for him. “I thought maybe they were coming for me. They mistook him for me. They got the wrong house,” he said. “He’s dead. They killed him. It spooked me out.”

If McAfee is involved, it may trace back to the half-dozen dogs McAfee keeps at his beachside compound. Faull, like other McAfee neighbors, had been complaining about the dogs and reportedly filed a formal complaint about them with the mayor of the nearby town of San Pedro last week. According to McAfee, the dogs were poisoned on Friday night.

McAfee blames the death of the dogs on the Belizean authorities, with whom he has been tangling for months. In April, the Gang Suppression Unit raided his property on the mainland and accused him of manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing unlicensed weapons. Those charges were dropped but McAfee believes that the government has a vendetta against him. He believes the death of his dogs was just another attempt to get him to leave the country.

Belize police say McAfee is a ‘person of interest’ in the death of Faull, but say he is not formally a suspect, though both Gizmodo and Wired say that McAfee has been formally charged.

McAfee is currently on the run from the police and says he has no plans to leave the country.

Stay tuned as the curious case of McAfee continues.
