On Monday, President Obama made history again by becoming the first US president to visit Cambodia. He also set a mark in history by traveling to Burma yesterday.

Barack’s visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia was part of his three-day travel to Southeast Asia in order to strengthen US trade and political ties in a region where China has a huge influence.  

While in Cambodia, he attended the East Asia Summit and reassured that his visit was not an endorsement of Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has governed since the 1980s. 

The President also delivered opening remarks at the U.S.-ASEAN Leaders Meeting at Peace Palace, where protesters called on the US to stop human rights violations in the country.

His visit to Cambodia was a big difference than in Burma, where he was warmly welcomed by thousands of people in the streets and congratulated the country for their progression toward democracy. Things were a little more tepid for Barack in Cambodia…
