It’s rare that we have a story like this connected to fashion, however our prayers are going out to the Missoni family.

Today, rescue crews on both boats and aircrafts still have not been able to find the small plane that disappeared on Friday carrying Vittorio Missoni.

Virrorio, who held the position of Marketing Director of the Italian fashion label, was joined by his wife Maurizia Castiglioni, entrepreneur Guido Foresti, his wife Elda Scalvenzi, and a pair of Venezuelan pilots.  They were on route to Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas after taking off from Los Roques resort on Friday at about 11:30 a.m. Since then, there has been no sign of the BN2 Islander plane that the group was on, or its passengers…

STORY: Fashion Legend, Vittorio Missoni’s Plane Missing

Angela Missoni, Vittorio’s sister, told Italy’s La Repubblica:

“Our hope is that he is still alive … We want to hope, because for us it is important.”

Angela went on to explain to La Repubblica about the family’s decision to wait to tell their patriarch, Ottavio Missoni, a day after the news actually broke:

“We decided to let him rest, he was very tired … When, at 5.30 in the morning he saw us all standing and he looked at our faces and said ‘what happened? I am 92, but I’m not stupid.’ And so we told him the truth.”

We can only pray that there is no foul play involved and that the search team finds a healthy Vittorio Missoni and his fellow passengers as soon as possible.
