Thom Browne knows how to bring the drama!

For his Fall 2013 women’s runway presentation during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, Thom put together a show that can only be described as a beautiful nightmare. Beautiful because the garments were amazing as usual, but a nightmare because of the exaggerated fits and the male models that were literally bound and tied to mattresses!

Fans of Thom will know that his actual collections are not as dramatic as his runway shows. There will be no box-like shoulders when the garments hit retail, but you can expect the same patterns and craftsmanship. This time around, those patterns included houndstooth, contrasting stripes and dots and even florals – actual florals. Thom didn’t just make an average floral pattern for a choice few of his pieces; he made petal-like appliques and faux roses to accentuate the garments.

You can check out some of our favorite pieces from Thom Browne’s Fall 2013 women’s collection during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week in the gallery above.

Trends spotted: Houndstooth, real florals, black/white & grey

Faces in the front row: Nick Wooster, Lynn Yaeger, Sandra Bernhard

Our rating: The melodrama made us love this. The big hair, the exaggerated structures and patterns looked great in a way only Thom can pull off.

Our favorite look: The coat/skirt oversized houndstooth plaid combination paired with white & rose leggings.
