There are a number of reasons to love this new short film from Miu Miu, but the embracing of beautiful black women in high fashion is our favorite.

The always stunning Gabrielle Union stars in this short film that of course highlights Miu Miu’s high fashion pieces, but also blends their practicality of use into a riveting tale of a woman finding herself and her style following a divorce and the depression that came with it.

The Italian brand tapped Ava DuVernay, the first black woman to win Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival for her second feature Middle of Nowhere, to put her magic touch on the fifth installment of their ‘The Women’s Tales’ series.

Throughout the dialogue-less film, each of Gabby’s character’s friends, played by Alfre Woodard, Adepero Oduye, Emayatzy, and singer Goapele, bring their own style and zest to try to get the beauty to shake her funk.
