The shoe brand is pushing the boundaries of innovation with 3D Printing. Team NB’s Jack Bolas, became the first ever track athlete to run a race in 3D printed spikes. The video above gives us a behind the scenes preview of the research and testing that went into the design of these custom high performance spikes.

The 3D printing used implements lasers to selectively melt the model into a material before removing the excess to reveal the completed form. From design to the track, the video follows the the New Balace design team all the way through production of New Balance’s latest track & field innovation.
