Nicola Formichetti is a man who likes to work in twos.

After two years of being the creative director over at Mugler, he stepped down from his position to pursue other opportunities. Just two days after the announcement, it is now being announced that Nicola will be assuming the role of artistic director of Diesel, the first of it’s kind for the Italin denim brand.

STORY: After Just 2 Years We Say Bye-Bye To Nicola Formichetti As Creative Director Of Mugler!

According to Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, Nicola has got a lot of “crazy ideas” for the label and will be responsible for “total view” of the Diesel brand. Nicola will be able to show what he has brought to the Diesel table during the Fall 2013 season which leads us to believe that although the news was just announced, Nicola has been with Diesel for at least a season prior to the announcement.

In a statement to WWD, Renzo said:

“I finally met somebody as crazy as I am. I have replaced myself and can go on vacation.”

Good to know. Hopefully we will see some interesting pieces come from Diesel this upcoming fall but like always, only time will tell. For now all we can say is Congrats Nicola, and good luck with your new role!
