Drake won’t be the only artist bringing Aaliyah’s music back to life.
Chris Brown announced he has a new single titled “They Don’t Know” featuring the late great Aaliyah.
The new song features never-before-heard vocals from the “One In A Million” singer. Chris Brown has wasted no time on this collaboration, and he even shot the video for it in Los Angeles over the weekend.
During the 2013 BET Awards press conference, Chris gushed about the new video, stating:
“I’m bringing both worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from. I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke—I remember when I was.”
Unlike Drake, we haven’t heard much push back about Chris’ collaboration with Aaliyah. Could the world be more receptive to a Chris and Aaliyah collaboration than a Drake and Aaliyah collaboration?
It’s possible, but only time will tell.
Despite the initial push back, Drake’s collaborative song with Aaliyah, “Enough Said,” was positively received by hardcore Aaliyah fans and Drake fans.
“They Don’t Know” will appear on Chris’ sixth studio album X, which hits store shelves July 16.
