Henry Cavill recently received his ticket to stardom when he was chosen for the part of Superman in Man of Steel.

But the road to fame hasn’t been an easy one for the 30-year-old hottie. He’s been considered for countless parts in major Hollywood films – only to be rejected, time and time again.

So which films did Cavill almost breakout in? Check it out!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Before he was Clark Kent, Cavill was nearly cast for a part in the Harry Potter series and a pretty major one at that. Producers, as well as fans, wanted Henry to play Cedric Diggory. Fans were so adamant that Cavill should have the part that they did what any fan group would do and started a petition. Regardless, Robert Pattinson was cast for the part instead. Such is life.

Batman Begins

Prior to landing the part of Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, Christian Bale’s name appeared on a long list of actors who were thought to be considered for the lead. That list included Henry’s name. Ultimately Christian got the part and we can’t say we’re mad about it, but Henry could have been an equally hot Batman.

Superman Returns

Yup, that’s right. Long before Man of Steel, Henry was considered and not chosen for the part of Superman. Ain’t that some ish? Fortunately Henry has no hard feelings about not getting the part back in 2006. “I’ve got more experience as an actor now,” he said in an interview with Huffington Post. “I’ve lived more of a life. I have experience more in the way of ups and downs and goods and bads–so I could more accurately represent this incredible character.”

Casino Royale

The list of actors considered for the role of James Bond was narrowed down to just two people: Daniel Craig and Henry Cavill. Craig beat Henry out because he had a few years on him, but Henry said, “I came very close.”

Twilight

Imagine a world where Edward Cullen is not played by Robert Pattinson. Weird, we know. That almost happened! Stephanie Meyer had always envisioned the part going to Henry, unfortunately Robert snagged the role because of his age. “The most disappointing thing for me is losing my perfect Edward,” Author Stephanie Meyer said. “Henry Cavill is now 24 years old. Let us have a moment of quiet in which to mourn.”

Green Lantern

Though Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds were the top contenders for the part of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, Henry was considered for the part during casting.

Damn! Fortunately for us Henry snagged a spot as the top pick for Clark Kent in Man of Steel and we can enjoy him flying around, saving the world and being totally hot for two hours and 23 minutes.
