It’s official! Omar Tyree fans can rejoice.

Omar’s Flyy Girl trilogy will be made into a movie. Lionsgate company Codeblack Films has acquired the rights to the popular books.

The trilogy explores the journey of a young African-American woman motivated by the material things in life and gets caught up in the world of sex, violence and heartache as she attempts to find herself and work towards achieving her goals during the modern hip-hop era.

Omar Tyree is a bestselling author whose books have been read by 8 million people worldwide and have grossed over $30 million for the publishing company Simon & Schuster.

Codeblack Films President Jeff Clanagan is extremely excited to have the rights for the book.

“Codeblack is excited to have the film rights for these books which have been a staple in the African-American community for more than 20 years. We’re thrilled to have the chance to finally bring these stories to screen,” he said. 

Keep your eyes open, Flyy Girl will be in theaters soon.
