Sure, tuning into ESPN during each sport’s respective season provides you with all the news you could need about athletes and the world around them, but the ESPYs are when all genres of sports and fashion find a place to beautifully collide.
Last night kicked off the 2013 ESPY Awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and we got to witness some of our favorite athletes and sports professionals take the red carpet dressed to the nines to celebrate this year’s accomplishments on and off the courts and fields.
LeBron James and Serena Williams took home the top individual awards of the night as best male and female athletes, respectively, and James won again (and again and again) when his Miami Heat won awards for Best Team and Best Game for their Game 6 NBA Finals win over the San Antonio Spurs. They celebrated in the Old Spice photobooth, naturally.
But the real tear jerking moment of the night (and there were a few broken up by the jokes of host Jon Hamm) was when Cancer and MDS survivor Robin Roberts took the stage to accept her inaugural Arthur Ashe Courage Award from LeBron.
