Former NBA Hall-of-Famer (and outspoken host) Charles Barkley decided to speak out on the George Zimmerman verdict on CNBC earlier this week.

When asked about his assessment of the case, Barkley said that he agrees with the verdict.

“Well I agree with the verdict,” Barkley said. “I feel sorry that young kid got killed, but they didn’t have enough evidence to charge him.”

He also says he thinks that Zimmerman did follow Trayvon Martin, but something went wrong and Trayvon attacked Zimmerman.

“Something that happened that night that changed the dynamic…Mr. Zimmerman was wrong, but I think Trayvon Martin, God rest his soul, he did flip the switch and started beating the hell out of Mr. Zimmerman.”

While he agreed that Zimmerman racially profiled Trayvon, he blasted the media for encouraging a negative race conversation in the nation.

“The main thing I feel bad for is it gives every white person and black person who’s racist a platform to vent their ignorance.”
