This week, one of the most epic and horrible chase-down videos went viral after a man in an SUV ran over some motorcyclists in NYC, and was beaten shortly afterwards.

The video has gotten a lot of attention and created a lot of controversy as to who is more at fault, but it turns out there was a motorcyclist who was an undercover cop!

A disguised policeman for the NYPD was with the bikers as they chased down the SUV and beat the man inside up, which resulted in him watching the entire thing go down.

According to Yahoo! News, the cop didn’t want to blow his cover by intervening with the bikers and the man in the SUV, so he stayed quiet.

The site reports:

The cop’s identity has not been released by the NYPD. According to officials, the officer notified his superiors days after the incident. He was a motorcyclist who was there on his own time, they said.

The information is part of the ongoing investigation by the NYPD and the Manhattan district attorney into the confrontation and beating that happened Sunday afternoon between a group of 20 to 30 motorcyclists and Lien, caught on video and uploaded to the Internet.

The officer’s involvement is also the subject of an Internal Affairs investigation, sources said.

Should the cop have kept his cover? Sound off in the comment below.
