Well… here’s another case of “black face” gone bad…
Julianne Hough decided to dress as Crazy Eyes from the Netflix hit show Orange Is The New Black for a Halloween party in LA last night and it seems she thought her costume wouldn’t be complete without darker painted skin.
The actress, whose ensemble was also completed with an orange jumpsuit and Crazy Eyes’ signature bantu knots certainly ruffled some feather as she received some back lash.
Since photos of her Halloween get up has surfaced, the 25-year-old has issued an apology. Taking to her Twitter, she posted:
I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.
Mmph… We’re almost positive people would’ve gotten the Crazy Eyes” idea with out the “black face.” But props to Julianne for issuing an apology.
