After a firestorm of bullying allegations and teammates rushing to his defense, suspended Miami Dolphins offensive guard Richie Incognito is finally talking.

Incognito, who is under scrutiny for making racially-charged assaults to teammate Jonathan Martin, spoke to WSVN-TV about the scandal that resulted in his suspension.

“I’m just trying to weather the storm right now. This will pass.”

However, he declined to comment on the remarks he left on Martin’s voicemail.

“You know, no comment right now,” Incognito said. “We’re just gonna kinda weather the storm, and that’s it.”

And as for his relationship with the team? The Miami Herald has reported that Incognito is done with the organization. However, Martin, who took a leave of absence in the wake of the bullying, will continue to be paid and remains on the active roster.

The NFL Players Association issued a statement regarding the bullying allegations:

“We expect that the NFL and its clubs create a safe and professional workplace for all players and that owners, executives, coaches and players should set the best standards and examples,” the players’ union stated. “It is the duty of this union to hold the clubs and teams accountable for safety and professionalism in the workplace.

“As the representative organization of all players, the NFLPA will insist on a fair investigation for all involved. We will continue to remain in contact with the impacted players, their representatives and player leadership.”

Yesterday it was revealed that the Miami Dolphins coach urged Incognito to “toughen” Martin up. His teammates also let his racial remarks slide because, in their eyes, he was “more black” than the bi-racial Martin.

In fact, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill came to Incognito’s rescue on Tuesday, saying this about his suspended teammate:

“All I know about Richie is that he’s been a great teammate … the best teammate I could ask for.”

Well, doesn’t mean he wasn’t a bully to others. We’ll keep you updated on this bizarre scandal.
