The 2013 Soul Train Awards hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson aired last night on BET and Centric.

In case you missed it, this year’s award show featured emotional tributes and exciting performances, both from today’s vibrant stars and the musical legends that inspired many of them.

To start off the night right, Jennifer Hudson graced the Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena and performed her new single, “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel).” The R&B starlet was joined by Evelyn “Champagne” King, Chaka Khan, and T.I.

Before winning two awards for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and the Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award, R&B songstress Tamar Braxton jumped on stage to perform a sequence of songs including, “Love and War,” “The One,” and “All The Way Home.”

K. Michelle took home the Best New Artist Award and delivered performances of “Can’t Raise a Man” and her hit single, “V.S.O.P.” And Wale and Mint Condition’s Stokley Williams paid homage to the late Marvin Gaye, as the two teamed up to perform a mash-up of Marvin’s “Inner City Blues” and “LoveHate Thing.”

R&B legend Keith Sweat was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of his greatest hits, which included “Make It Last Forever,” during which he was joined by Faith Evans.

Other winners included Kendrick Lamar for Album of the Year, Janelle Monáe‘s “Q.U.E.E.N” won for Video of the Year, Robin Thicke took home Song of the Year for “Blurred Lines,” and Ashanti’s “Never Should Have” won for Best Independent R&B/Soul Performance.
