Kanye West is going off on Twitter again, but this time it’s to refute false statements that the rapper deemed himself “the next Mandela.”

It all started on Friday, when The Daily Currant ran a fake interview stating that the “Blood on the Leaves” emcee declared himself “the next Mandela” after the passing of the former South African president last week. The Currant, however, categorizes itself as “The Global Satirical Newspaper of Record,” sorta like The Onion.

The mock interview included quotes such as:

“Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global. I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.”

Talk about disrespect. Many people took offense and it caused a major uproar on the Twitter-sphere.

Well, the 36-year-old rapper definitely does not play those games, so he decided to put the rumors to rest:

Although many come down on Yeezus and his infamous Twitter rants, it’s refreshing to see him clear up the hurtful rumors and really show respect to the late Nelson Mandela.
