The spacious brick walls of the Eyebeam Art + Technology were a far cry from the recently blacked-out tents of Lincoln Center, but they served as the ideal location for the showing of Mark McNairy’s Fall Winter 2014 Collection.

McNairy’s skills picked up as creative director for the Ivy League-inspired clothing company J. Press, were on full display as looks that married school boy prep with unpolished street came down the concrete runway. The signature prep-meets-street aesthetic was on full display at no moment more than when Cam’ron hit the runway as the closer to the show. With his girl JuJu on his arm, Killa Cam took the runway to showcase his collaborative cape with the designer.

News of the collaboration between Cam and McNairy (McNasty if you’re dirty) was met with equal part delight and confusion, but the presence of Cam’ron on the runway solidified the prior, it’s pretty fucking genius. The crowd, which included faces like Hot 97’s Miss Info, Angie Martinez, Dame Dash and Jim Jones, who clapped with fury to Cam’s appearance seemed to be generally pleased with the presentation.

Last season, Cam’ron and Juju were sitting front row to take in the SS14  collection modeled by the likes of Pusha T and Nick Wooster and Danny Brown closed the debut SS13 show, so maybe we should be scouring the front row for clues as to who is up next season.

Oh, and the soundtrack to the final walk? “Hey Ma.”

Trends spotted: The best way I can sum up Mark McNairy’s collection’s demographic is this: It’s for the one who looks to buttoned-up Ivy Leaguers for classic fashion inspiration but still knows all the lyrics to Diplomatic Immunity.

Faces in the front row: Victor Cruz, Angie Martinez, Miss Info, Jim Jones, Dame Dash

My rating: The collection was a solid one with some of McNairy’s best footwork on display in addition to the new twists on classics for the fall, but the best part personally as a woman who frequents the menswear section, was seeing women model menswear. Sans the leggings, I think he is on to something.

My favorite look: The cape! It’s all about the cape! With temperatures in the low teens, that cape looked desirbale as hell.

Oh, and a special shoutout to the person who was probably mortified when their row 2 coffee spill slowly seeped onto the runway LOL.
