50 Cent may be talented in both the music and television industries, but life wasn’t always so easy for the Queens native. The 38-year-old rapper recently sat down with us to discuss his new show, Power, his upcoming music projects, and more.

According to 50, the biggest lesson he’s learned from both writing for TV and writing raps is that no one ever gets it right the first time. The G-Unit rapper says he’s learned that greatness takes many drafts.

We were also able to talk to the “Cuffin’ Season” singer about his new Starz series Power. 50, who is the show’s executive producer, says he relates to the show’s main character, Ghost, in that they both went from rags to riches. He did, however, acknowledge that leaving the street life behind was much simpler for him because he didn’t get into it as deep as Ghost. He and the show’s creator, Courtney Kemp Agboh, also revealed the major role music played in writing the show together and staying on the same wavelength.

Though he’s been busy with Power, 50 still finds time for his music, releasing his album Animal Ambition this week.

Check out the rest of his epic interview above and be sure to catch Power on Starz premiering June 7th.
