Right after it was announced that Disney actress Zendaya was cast as the late Aaliyah in a Lifetime biopic, criticism came in from left and right – and Aaliyah’s family didn’t hold their distaste back either.
Now it seems that the criticism and opposition from the family was too much for the talented 17-year-old.
According to TMZ:
Sources close to the production say a whole bunch of factors played a part including the negative reaction from Aaliyah’s family.
As we previously reported, Aaliyah’s uncle/former manager told us no one from the network contacted them before announcing the movie. They believe Aaliyah deserves big screen treatment.
As of now, Lifetime has currently put the biopic’s production on hold.
