“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” is in theaters now and Katniss finds herself haunted by nightmares after destroying the games and not knowing the fate of Peeta.

While she’s safe in District 13, the young survivor has no clue what has become of the rest of her world, but she’s being ask to be the Mockingjay for the upcoming revolution against the tyrannical government. Katniss agrees only after she sees that her beloved District 12 has been completely destroyed by the Capitol.

I  really enjoyed this “Hunger Games” installment. I thought it was the best on of the three so far, the perfect blend of action, drama, and suspense. This film reminded me of a group of kids running around an abandoned war zone making Vines and YouTube videos designed to move the people.

I thought the acting in this film was great. Jeffrey Wright and Julianne Moore are just two members of the talented cast who steal the show. The effects were great if you look at the trailer, but I think the most moving scene is when Katniss visits a makeshift hospital in District 8 and the people really get behind their Mockingjay.

Mercedeh Allen hit the red carpet of the premiere and spoke with the writer of the screenplay, Peter Craig, who explained how he was able to bring the script to life, being that the book is basically all from Katniss’s point of view:

“With this we looked for if there was a line or a mention in something of the book, because the book is so deeply in Katniss’s point of view that there are a lot of things that she just can’t describe. So if there was a line that mentions something somewhere we would go out and develop that, because we can be outside of her point of view in the movie. We treated the book like the bible but we still would add water to stuff that we thought we flush out the whole world a little bit.”
