Wale is making a pretty gutsy move to further his rap star rep.

The MMG rapper revealed in a press conference at this weekend’s ESSENCE fest that he’s already working on a new “go-go” album, only a few months after the release of The Album About Nothing.

The Washington D.C. emcee told the press straight up that the upcoming “go-go” album would be nothing like the typical Wale record. He’s recruited some of our favorite recording artists for the side project, such as Chris Brown and Tinashe, and also wants to get several prominent “go-go” musicians from the D.C. area on board. (FYI, “go-go” is a popular music sub-genre associated with funk that originated in the DMV area).

We know what you’re all thinking – what about Self Made Vol. 4 with Rick Ross? Don’t worry, Wale confirmed that the highly anticipated album from the MMG squad will arrive first. He did not reveal the release date, but we know the storm’s comin’.
