A long-standing argument sparked a shooting at a North Carolina shopping mall, leaving one person killed on Christmas Eve.
18-year-old Daquan Antonio Westbrook was shot and killed by a police officer after getting into a physical fight with another person at Northlake Mall in Charlotte. ABC News reports: “During the fight, a weapon was brandished and shots were fired around 2 p.m.”
Witnesses nearby quickly ran for cover, as chaos erupted when gunshots were heard. An off-duty cop named Thomas Ferguson confronted Westbrook, who allegedly pointed his weapon in the officer’s direction. Officer Ferguson shot the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has since been placed on administrative leave. Story developing…
