There are a laundry list of reasons why legions of women flocked to their television to watch to Vh1’s “Lets Talk About Pep.” Whether at view parties or on phone conferences with the bff on Monday nights at 9:30 p.m. women broke their neck to see what kind of escapades this group of woman got themselves into.
If you have been under a rock the show follows four friends, Salt and Pepa’s, Sandy “Pep” Denton, Joumana Kidd, Jacque Reid, and Kali “Kittie” Troy, who date and dish over lunch. These women are from all walks of life, are in search for one thing, love but will take a good time if it comes their way.
So why do ladies love this show? It’s simple, women are suckers for girl talk and no girl talk is complete with speaking on guys. These successful business women have a presence that women of all ages can relate to. What group of women don’t congregate with their friends, usually with some sort of food and liquor, and just dish about men, the good the bad and the ugly?
What woman hasn’t had a date where the chemistry is just null and void, or dated someone who was great, but not ready to commit? If you’re apart of the dating pool you are bound to have some hits and misses. “Let’s Talk About Pep” documents those intense moments.
This show has gotten a lot of comparisons to “Sex and the City,” but this show has a spicy sophisticated edge, that was missing from that series. These women aren’t afraid to step outside the box and push limits, as they are being themselves and enjoying life. This is exactly what the show picks up on. Although the season has come to an end, we are keeping our fingers crossed, at this very moment in hopes of a return of this fabulous foursome.
