A young brother who had applied to colleges and was headed toward an amazing career path life was cut short on Saturday night. Kemp was on the road to success, going through ups and downs, he recently started improving his grades in math and science and began to send out college applications.

Kemp was shot multiple times at 2:45 a.m. Saturday while walking with his older brother on 12th Avenue through one of the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods, police said. Family members said Kemp had left the house at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday. ‘He said he was going to meet friends, get something to eat and walk around, like he always did,’ said a family member who lived with Javon but did not want to be named. ‘He asked for some money and said he’d be back.’
