There have been times where I have heard something that Kanye West did or said that just had me shaking my head. What possess him to spew some of the nonsense that I have heard him spew? Why can’t he get a handle on his mouth and think before he speaks? But the longer Kanye is in the spotlight, the more I realize that he is simply a human being with character flaws just like all of us, who makes the same mistakes we have all made, at one time or another.

While he sometimes lacks a filter on what he says, you can’t say he lacks passion or intensity. Those two things add to his creative appeal and combine with his creative nature to give us the gift that is his art. That is who he is above anything else, an artist. I do not mean simply, a recording artist. I mean a true artist in every sense of the word.

I watched Runaway yesterday, as well as the Sway interview for the premiere and you can hear the excitement in Ye’s voice about the project. That enthusiam was contagious and inspiring for me. The way he talked about the concepts and color…you can just see the wheels turning in his head. I loved Runaway. The music was next level, the visuals were stunning and even the storyline was appealing. I was impressed by the dancing, the acting and the cinematography.

Kanye is controversial. He is a head turner and a headline maker. He is often misunderstood and sometimes arrogant. You can see he struggles with balance, and that is what makes him like you and I. That is what all of us are trying to do, find the balance. His world is a little different than most of ours, but that part of him makes him relatable and human.

Musically, he is one of the best to do it, period. You can say you don’t like his music, but you can’t take away that fact that he sells.

‘Men lie, women lie, number’s don’t’-Jay-Z

Kanye is cuttting edge and groundbreaking and his wordplay is is second to none.

He has come a long way from the first album. You can see the growth in him through his art, his interviews, and even his Twitter page. He has been humbled in some way, whether it be from his mothers passing or from the backlash caused by ‘Swiftgate’. He is growing into his greatness with a degree of maturity and widsom that only time can provide. One thing is for certain, if you were wondering if Kanye fell off, you were mistaken. He has made it obvious, that his music and art are here to stay.
