Call me crazy, but suicide attempts generally imply that something’s not right. However that apparently isn’t that case for American Idol’s Fantasia Barrino, who overdosed on aspirin and sleep aids a week ago. She’s already getting back on the horse and moving full-speed ahead with her career.

Fantasia’s album Back To Me will still be released August 24th, and Fantasia has not cancelled any of her upcoming appearances on Good Morning America(August 24), Lopez Tonight (August 25), 106 & Park (September 8), Live With Regis and Kelly (September 9) and The Wendy Williams Show (September 10). All I have to say is these hosts will definitely have a lot more to talk about with Fantasia then they originally planned.

I can’t thank my fans enough for their prayers and support during such a challenging time. It has given me the motivation to get back to work and honor the commitments I made to promote Back To Me. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do.”

Fantasia has definitely hit a rough patch in the past few weeks with news breaking that her boo, 26-year-old Antwaun Cook, was a married man. Some might say that it’s best to stay busy rather than dwelling on our problems. However if these problems are never properly addressed and are continually repressed, then sooner or later something will give. A suicide attempt is obviously not something to be taken lightly, and I just hope she is receiving the proper treatment and guidance. Everyone has their fair amount of crap to deal with, but it’s unfortunate that celebrities have to battle their demons so publicly.
