From the very moment that Heidi Montag began dating Spencer Pratt on The Hills, the entire game changed. The show was meant to be a spin-off of MTV’s reality hit, Laguna Beach with Laguna’s own Lauren Conrad at the helm, and with Heidi as her lovable, albeit trouble-causing, best friend.
Things went on that way for a while – and then, there came Spencer. LC and Spencer clashed from the very beginning, forcing Lauren to confront Heidi about her relationship with such a “sucky person” and eventually leading up to Lauren and Heidi’s split.
From then on, a good amount of the of The Hills storyline circulated around Spencer and Heidi’s relationship, and all of the people who were burned in it’s wake.
Although Spencer is one of the most controversial of television stars, he is also one of the most entertaining. We don’t have to like him, but we definitely have to love him. And here’s why…
1. He has freakishly perfect teeth.
And rightfully so. Spencer’s dad is famous L.A. dentist. Having jacked teeth with a dentist for a father is like flunking out of school when your mom’s a professor. It’s just not a good look.
2. He managed to offend the most random assortment of celebrities ever grouped together within one minute of meeting them.
Remember the first season of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here? Spencer and Heidi caused an uproar from the very beginning. They weren’t happy being in the Costa Rican jungle with their campmates and distanced themselves from the rest of the cast.
When they got back, this happened….
3. He took this picture. Not sure what’s going on here, but we have to love it.
4. “Speidi” is one of the best celeb-couple-mashup nicknames ever created.
Forget about Brangelina, Bennifer, and Tomkat. Speidi has to be the single best celebrity couple nickname ever created. It’s short, sweet, rolls off the tongue with ease, and references the best web-slinging superhero in all of comic-book-nerd-dom.
