Mia Wasikowska and the folks behind Jane Eyre have the highest per theater average of 2011. The movie might have opened up with a limited debut showing in only four theaters in America, but it’s estimated to pull in just under 200K.

According to the LA Times “Last year, best picture winner ‘The King’s Speech’ had the highest opening weekend debut in limited release, with a theater average of $88,863 in November.”

All the well deserved media attention has people wanting to know more about Mia Wasikowska. The Aussie actress is already signed to eight movies that are waiting to come out. Let’s face it she’s hotter than summer on the sun.

Here are seven stellar things you should know about Mia Wasikowska.

She didn’t have any awareness of film making or celebrity culture until she was a teenager.

“There is a lot more awareness of that in America or at least in LA. It wasn’t something I really aspired to until I was a teenager.”

When she saw Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez at the Vanity Fair party during Oscar weekend in LA she was blown away at how he handled all the attention.

“They were just, like, snickering and running away somewhere. I was thinking, ‘Wow, how do you handle that? I’m so curious about people like that.”

Mia still isn’t very comfortable with her celebrity.

“At times, it was kind of scary. Once you’re put out there in the public eye, people feel a certain ownership over you. It’s interesting feeling out of control of your identity.”

Mia Wasikowska has been dancing since she was 8 years old. She studied ballet and by the time she was 14 she was dancing around 35 hours a week.

“I loved [ballet], but it became very much about this perfection. There was so much negativity associated with the dance world, and it just seemed like it was constant.”

Both of her parents were photographers and Mia’s mother didn’t make her smile for photos.

“We never had to smile or perform. We weren’t always conscious of being photographed. We’d just do our thing, and she’d take pictures of us. It’s how I like to work in films as well. I like to be absorbed in what my character’s doing.”

Mia is also a photographer and she would take pictures during her down time on set of “Jane Eyre.”

“I liked also taking pictures in between because sometimes the most interesting composition is when you’re sort of in the center of something and then there’s all this attention that is focused on you and you have like a camera in your face and a boom above your head and often that is the perspective that isn’t seen, which is what I try to do with my photographs.”
