Our life is unpredictable so we need to own a car that can go with the flow and get us through some of its obstacles. Take our 2011 Ford Explorer for example: It can get you where you’re going over any type of surface, be it smooth or rocky. Last weekend we went skiing and from Brooklyn to Highmount, NY, the ride was smoother than roller skates on turtle wax.

With a quick turn of a dial, I shifted from Normal to Gravel & Snow to Mud to Sand with the standard Terrain Management System.

While our friends were stuck in line waiting for an iPad 2, I was listening to a playlist I made AND prank called them handsfree using the Explorer’s voice commands and touch control.

I’m terrible with directions so to get to the lodge all I had to do was ask the built-in navigational system. It is voice-activated and provided turn-by-turn directions, and it helped me choose the fastest, shortest and most eco-friendly route. The Eco-Route calculated the most fuel-efficient route for me, too. That way I had more time for the honey in the passenger seat. She loved us for it (wink).

We didn’t pack light. With the ski’s, luggage and my girl’s nieces and nephews who magically showed up at the last minute. No matter though, we just had to fold down the 2nd and 3rd row seats and more space became available. Ahh, life.
