Franc Fernandez is the designer responsible for Lady Gaga’s meat dress from the 2010 MTV VMAs. Fernandez says that he was approached by Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti about creating a dress made entirely from meat inspired by Gaga’s shoot with Terry Richardson for Vogue Hommes Japan where she posed in a meat bikini. Franc didn’t seem intimidated at all by the task, his simple steps are “Go to your butcher, get some good cuts, and start sewing.”

Sounds easy enough, but the 40lb dress took incredible skill and talent to accomplish in a tasteful manner. Fernandez explained that the dress was made from quality Argentinean meat, matambre so it did not bleed or smell.

The dress also was designed with that specific meat so it would not spoil until after the awards. The dress will spend the duration of its life in the archives with other memorable outfits.

Kudos to Franc for making what Gaga claimed to be the most comfortable dress of the night!
