Dear Artist,

Let me start by telling you that this is as much a letter to myself, as it is a letter to you…

When it comes to music, I am a Liberal Hater. Easily amused, hardly impressed. I can find something good in lots of music, but if the bad outweighs the good to me (which it normally does) I’ll say its wack. Thank goodness for you, my opinion isn’t the “be-all end-all” of your career. Matter of fact, no one’s opinion is. I say that in order to say this: everyone has an opinion, but no one has the answer. Meaning, the fact that I may not appreciate your music doesn’t mean that hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people wont. So, yay for you.

Before you celebrate though, remember that success doesn’t come easy; only the strong will survive. Seriously, there are hundreds of millions of ‘talented’ people in the world and yet only a handful in comparison can even live comfortably off of their craft. Expect to work hard. Expect lots of rejection. Expect skeptics, like myself. Expect booand, if you really suck, tomatoes. Expect the worst because believe it or not, you ‘re going to get it. Nothing worth having comes without passion and persistence; all the negativity you WILL encounter is just life’s way of making sure you have both.

Really though, it seems the world is short on talented, hardworking, passionate, and persistent people. Right? So if you truly are one of those people, let me be the very first to say with the utmost sincerity, responsibility, and genuine consideration….

You STILL suck!

Ha, all jokes aside what I mean is, every road to success is paved with rejection; every no, cant, won’tand failure you encounter makes you more resilient. So believe in yourself. If you don‘t, who will?

All love. Be well. Rock. Miguel
