Two young sisters in Littlerock, California, were stabbed Tuesday, leaving one dead and the other critically injured, police said.
‘The suspect is actually a juvenile,’ Lt. Ben Nelson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office told CNN affiliate KCAL. ‘There may be some family connection.’
CNN affiliate KTLA identified the suspect as a 16-year-old boy.
Deputies found the suspect — and the knife believed to have been used in the attacks — in a nearby yard. He was arrested without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
‘We immediately called 911,’ Hallenbeck said. ‘I followed her to the house she was staying at where I found … one of her cousin’s on the ground with knife wounds to her neck and leg.’
A 14-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital where she was in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office. Her 11-year-old sister was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the victims.
