Sometime it’s just too hard to let go.

Ellie Goulding releases her new vibrant song “Goodness Gracious” – co-written by fun.’s lead vocalist, Nate Ruess –  which has the UK songstress lamenting over a love interest she can’t really seem to pull herself away from; someone she can’t live with or without.

“I lost the signal and put you away/ Swore up on the sun, I’d save you for a rainy day/ Loosen the noose, and let go of the rope, I know if it’s never coming back, it has to go,” Ellie sings.

And this isn’t the first time Nate Ruess has collaborated with a fellow artist. He’s co-written Pink‘s “Just Give Me a Reason” and Ke$ha‘s “Die Young.

Halcyon Days is due October 5th.
