Two bystanders were shot down by police yesterday in Times Square, Manhattan after they tried to confront a deranged man who pretended to point a gun at them.

According to the NY Daily News, the man was confronted by officers around 9:36 PM in the popular tourist area where they accidentally shot two innocent people, firing their guns.

CBS News reports:

Police said officers saw a man on foot weaving erratically through traffic and sometimes blocking vehicles. After approaching him, police said, the man reached into his pocket as if grabbing a weapon, and two officers fired a total of three shots. They missed him but struck a 54-year-old woman in the right knee and a grazed a 35-year-old woman in the buttocks, police said.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the site that the man “reached into his pocket, took out his hand, and simulated as if he was shooting at them.”

Tons of tourist witnesses were around to see the shooting go down, and some even captured photos to put on social media networks.

The man was eventually found and taken into custody where they found he was unarmed.

We pray for the victims of the shooting and hope they make a speedy recovery.
