The city of Detroit might finally be getting some help for their financial woes. Two months after Detroit became the largest city to ever file for bankruptcy, President Obama has proposed nearly $300 million in combined federal and private aid to help the city come back. That’s the good news. The bad news? It’s only a fraction of the billions the city owes and it’s still not a complete bail out. [NYT]

A university director at the University of Maryland’s Honors College is facing criticism after he sent a politically charged email regarding George Zimmerman’s shocking acquittal to welcome students back to campus. “This year, we learned that it is legal to hunt down and kill American children in Florida. This year, the most activist Supreme Court in the history of the United States and radical factions of gun owners, gun manufacturers, and marijuana users are challenging the very fabric of the nation.” Well, he has a point, no?
