Idris Elba has been the focal point since it was announced that the statuesque Brit would be starring in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Chatter surrounded the film with questions of whether or not Idris was the man to take on the grand role of the much-loved Madiba, but in all that white noise, something got lost: the woman who would be playing the equally important Winnie Mandela: Naomie Harris.

Much like Idris, Naomie’s accolades in the acting realm are in the big leagues, but after a screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom hosted by Ciroc, one undeniable fact stuck in my mind: Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela was the absolute and true star of Mandela. While the UK native has enjoyed a lucrative career overseas, Naomie is best known to American audiences for her roles as Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and as Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond series, beginning with Skyfall. But her performance as Winnie is sure to make her presence known on the red carpets this awards season. The upside? Naomie is already a seasoned vet when it comes to dressing to the nines and beyond for red carpet experiences.

No newbie to the fashion world, Naomie’s been spotted in couture at the most acclaimed of festivities, including the Met Gala here in New York City. You’ll find her on yachts in Cannes, and on red carpets at premieres looking unparalleled in her grace.

At 5’8″, the actress’ model-thin physique gives her the ability to experiment with a myriad of shapes, and that’s exactly what she does. Since you’re sure to be seeing a lot of Naomie Harris, it’s best you get familiar with her red carpet style starting right now. Check out her best looks in the gallery below.
