Drake may possibly be the most “emo rapper” of this generation. Drizzy Drake does not let the confines of traditional rap hold him back, instead he embraces all of his quirks and manages to pave his own lane.

However, when Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, aka Troy Barnes (for all you Community lovers) took to his Instagram page to post a series of troubling notes that he had written, we started thinking: has Drake been dethroned as the king of “emo” rap? Upon further investigation, we started to notice that these two rappers have way more in common than we think. In fact, it’s pretty scary the amount of commonalities the multi-talented duo share.

We smell bromance! Yes, we here at GlobalGrind think these two are a match made in BFF heaven and have the proof to show it. Take a look below at the six reasons why Drizzy and Donald would make the absolute perfect pair.

1. Both can RAP & ACT their asses off:

It’s undeniable that Drizzy has left his imprint in the rap game. The Young Money signee’s most recent album Nothing Was The Same just went platinum and he is currently performing in front of sold out shows nationwide. Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is also making a name for himself in the rap game and gearing up for his second studio release this December. But, did you know both started on the small screen? Drizzy played Jimmy “Wheelchair” Brooks on Canada’s cult-hit Degrassi and is gearing up to star alongside Will Ferrell in Anchorman 2, while Glover is a comedic genius, having written for hit shows such as 30 Rock, starring as “Troy Barnes” on NBC’s Community and making news with a recurring role on HBO’s hit show GIRLS.

2. They’re unafraid to show off their singing chops:

Forget about a feature – these two not only share an unequivocal love for lyricism, but they both can harmonize and hold a note. This is perfect considering their lyrics tend to be more on the emo side. Can you imagine what a song between the two would be like, though? (Grab the red wine and Kleenex immediately).

3. Both reminisce about exes:

We love these two for their candidness, especially when it comes to ex-flames. Both rappers are jaded and not afraid to show emotion. In “Letter Home,” Childish chimes, “You’re the only girl that I have ever wanted/Every other girl is trying to be you/My mama says that I should write you letters, but I think you’re with other dudes,” while Drake infamously raps, “the one that I needed was Courtney from Hooters on Peachtree/ I’ve always been feeling like she was the piece to complete me/ now she engaged to be married, what’s the rush on commitment/ know we were going through some shit, name a couple who isn’t” on “From Time.” These two could easily give each other a shoulder to cry on.

4. Both are real deal rappers who are open about their insecurities:

We all know that these two rappers have not lived the “tough guy” life. No, they did not grow up in the projects, nor did they run major drug cartels. Instead, they talk about the personal issues they face within their lives. Drake often raps about growing up in a single-parent household, while having fears about growing distant from family members. Meanwhile, Glover takes to social media as a therapeutic alternative. He recently made major headlines when he posted a series of Instagram posts, leaving others to question if he was suicidal. We love Glover all the more because he openly admitted to being “scared” and “insecure” in a recent interview with Power 105’s the Breakfast Club.

5. Jhene Aiko

What’s not to love about the beautiful Jhene Aiko? We can totally see why both guys are entranced by the R&B songstress. Not only did Donald and Jhene recently hit the sack for her “Bed Peace” video as an homage to Yoko Ono & John Lennon’s bed-in protests, but Drake snatched the cutie up for his NWTS tour and song “From Time.”

6. A Style All Their Own:

Remember Drake and his grandpa sweaters? What about the Miami-Vice style shirts he rocks in his “Hold On, We’re Going Home” video? We can’t forget Glover and his varsity prep meets hipster chic getups. Whatever the case, both of these guys have had full spreads in GQ and have fans flocking to jock their style. Glover even had an endorsement deal with Gap. So yeah, take that!

Hopefully, these two see just how cosmic their connection is and get to building a bromance, or at the very least hit the studio together. We certainly will be waiting.
