Every year, there are the movies that capture our hearts, and sometimes transform the careers of the actresses we have known and loved, or are just being exposed to. Every year, The Hollywood Reporter brings these very people together for an unforgettable roundtable discussion that serves as a rare look into the industry.

According to THR, putting together the roundtable was a challenge in itself, as 12 Years a Slave‘s Lupita Nyong’o lives in Brooklyn, Emma Thompson in London, and Amy Adams has been juggling back-to-back movies. But where there is a creative will, there is a way.

After much planning, Octavia Spencer (Fruitvale Station), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County), Oprah Winfrey (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), and Amy Adams (American Hustle) joined THR executive editor Matt Belloni and executive editor of features Stephen Galloway for a candid conversation about their award-worthy movies and both the moments that made and could have broken them. Check it all out in the video below, and for the full transcript, check out The Hollywood Reporter.
