It’s a sad day in Lauderhill, Florida as a young mother was shot dead while she was going to pick up her 11-month-old son from a babysitter.

According to NBC Miami, Nicole Grier who was just 19 years old, was picking up her son and strapping him into the car seat when a gunman riding in a Sedan shot her dead.

The site reports:

Camille Watkins and her daughter Satricia Jordan said that Grier, who was a close friend of theirs, came to Northwest 18th Street to pick up her son. They were babysitting him.

According to Jordan, things took a turn for the worst when Grier picked up her boy and took him to the car.

Satricia Jordan said of her friend:

“She was walking to the car and she put her baby inside the car and that’s when these two cars came up, a white Lexus and a black BMW,”

Five or six gunshots were heard.

“She was telling them to stop because she didn’t want that to happen to her but then they just kept shooting at her.”

The saddest part of this story is that Grier will be buried on January 11th, and her son’s birthday is on January 10th.

Grier’s mother, Tamala Watson, has pleaded for the shooters to turn themselves in.

“You left an 11-month-old baby without a mother,”

Grier’s family is having trouble finding the funds to pay for her funeral. They held a fundraiser on Wednesday night to help cover the costs.

We pray for the family of Nicole Grier and hope that the gunmen are caught soon.
