A man in Utah is not pleased with the state’s recent decision to legalize gay marriage, so he is taking things to the extreme.

Trestin Meacham has decided to go on a public hunger strike to get the government’s attention, in hopes that they might nullify the decision to allow same-sex couples to get married.

Meacham said on his blog:

“I cannot stand by and do nothing while this evil takes root in my home. Some things in life are worth sacrificing one’s health and even life if necessary. I am but a man, and do not have the money and power to make any noticeable influence in our corrupt system. Nevertheless, I can do something that people in power cannot ignore.”

An attorney named Greg Skordas recently said in an interview with 4Utah:

“If people want to change that they have to go through the appropriate processes,” he stated. “When individual personal liberties are at stake the state can’t infringe on that, even if it’s the will of the people.”

So far, Trestin has been drinking only water for 12 days and takes a vitamin every so often. He has already lost 25 pounds since starting his fast.

Um… we’re almost pretty sure Trestin is not going to win here. Hopefully he calls it quits before he compromises his health.
