It’s been a big week for TV, y’all!
VH1’s hit reality TV series Love & Hip-Hop is taking their show on the road. That’s right, they’re leaving Atlanta for L.A. According to TMZ, episodes are set to start shooting later this month. Unfortunately, the show’s producers have hit some major snags in production.
TMZ’s sources say Ray J was initially slated to headline the show, however he’s all tied up hosting Bad Girls Club: All-Stars with Oxygen. Producers are reportedly scrambling to find a big enough star to hold down the show, but it’s been a struggle. They’re reportedly planning to go ahead with shooting, focusing first on the smaller storylines. With any luck, the bigger star will fall into the producer’s laps in time. The new season will feature singer Brooke Valentine, DJ Yesi Ortiz, rapper Hazel-E and Bria Myles.
In other news, HBO’s hit dramedy GIRLS has been renewed for a fourth season just three days before the third season is set to air.
A spokesperson for the network announced during the Television Critics Association winter press tour panel that the show was renewed for another season. Filming is said to be starting later this year. The Hollywood Reporter claims the fourth season will premiere in 2015.
While one HBO hit series is preparing for a new season, another is gearing up for an end.
Also during the Television Critics Association press tour panel, an HBO spokesperson revealed that Boardwalk Empire will come to a close.
“It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subscribers,” said Michael Lombardo, programming president. “Terry Winter has created one for the ages.”
Winter, who also had a hand in writing The Wolf Of Wall Street, brought Boardwalk Empire to HBO in 2010. He’s had a longstanding relationship with HBO, which dates back to his time writing for The Sopranos.
“We’re thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of Boardwalk Empire,” said Winter. “After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we’re decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion.”
