CNN reports: A newborn boy who was reported missing from a Wisconsin town this week has been found alive in a tote bag at an Iowa gas station, Steve Kopp, the chief of police in the Town of Beloit, Wisconsin, said Friday.

Story developing…

——

A four-day-old baby has gone missing in the middle of the night while his parents were sleeping in the same room, according to recent reports.

After waking up at 4:30am and realizing that her newborn Kayden was missing from his bassinet, 18-year-old mother Brianna Marshall called the police on Thursday. The baby’s father, 23-year-old Bruce Powell, was also staying in the home, according to Beloit, Wisconsin police chief Steve Copp and police do not believe it is part of a custody dispute.

Daily Mail reports:

The officer said that there were no signs of a break-in at the home and police said it was being processed as a crime scene.

No one in or around the home reported anything suspicious, according to police reports.

The mother, who just turned 18, and father were at the police station waiting to be interviewed along with two other people who were at the house on Wednesday night.

The site goes on:

(A woman named) Kristin Smith was arrested in West Branch on fraud charges but has not been charged in the baby’s disappearance. Baby Kayden has still not been found but Smith was carrying baby clothing. It appears that Smith was not known to the new parents but claimed she was Brianna Marshall’s half-sister, with the women sharing the same father. The women had reportedly discussed moving to Colorado, along with Bruce Powell, after the baby was born.

While an Amber Alert has not been issued because the newborn baby’s disappearance does not fit the criteria, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office has provided 16 staff at the scene.

We are praying for Kayden’s safe return home.
