Who gave this lady a mic?

Fresh from her summer scandal (after admitting she used the n-word), the former Food Network chef who has an affinity for slave-themed weddings is ruffling feathers yet again.

Paula Deen, who received $75 million in funding for a brand new TV show, told People in a recent interview that her struggle to rebrand herself is similar to that of Michael Sam, the All-American defensive lineman from the University of Missouri who publicly revealed he’s gay.

Come again?

“I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name. It’s like that black football player who recently came out,” Deen said, according to TheWrap.com. “He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”

“I was obsessed with the person America had confused me with — after I had lived my life so clean and open,” Deen said in the People interview. “It’s amazing that some people are given passes and some are crucified. I have a whole new empathy for these situations, though. My dad always told me, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.”

First of all…no. Secondly, Deen doesn’t even know Sam’s name. The whole comparison was wrong and so is Deen…like, in general. In life.

But, if you are interested to see what else the butter-loving cook has to say, you can pick up the latest issue of the magazine, on stands Friday. At your own risk, of course.
