It looks like we’ll have to say goodbye to Harrison Wright!

Fans of the hit show Scandal will be pretty disappointed to not only know that Columbus Short won’t be returning to the show next season.

The 31-year-old actor released a statement yesterday, thanking Shonda Rhimes and the cast of the show for being able to work with them for the past 3 years while announcing his departure:

“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today,” Short says in his statement. “I would like to first thank [creator] Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”

Columbus was allegedly removed from the show’s cast due to all of the negative press he’s been getting lately – from getting into a fight at a bar to reports of domestic violence, the gladiator of an actor has been having a pretty tough time lately.

According to TMZ, the show’s producers decided that it would not be a good look for the show to keep him on after the domestic violence report came out.

It was probably for the best, but we will surely miss Columbus on the show! It looks like even Olivia Pope couldn’t fix this one…
