There’s a long list of reasons why we’re obsessed with Scandal, and at the very top of it has to be the impeccable wardrobe of Olivia Pope. Because even though she might make a few bad decisions (like, being involved in an extramarital affair with the leader of the free world), she always looks really, really good. Always.
Kerry Washington’s character is constantly decked out in designer labels with price tags that aren’t exactly affordable for a lot of her fans, but pretty soon, we’ll all be able to steal her style. Kerry, along with the show’s costume designer, Lyn Paolo, have teamed up to design a 42-piece Scandal collection for The Limited.
“By creating a line inspired by the show, we are introducing a collection that embodies the elegance and power of the Scandal aesthetic for real-life gladiators and everyday fashionistas,” said Washington in a statement. “The collection is a nod to our devoted fans, to fans of fashion and to women everywhere who are inspired to boldly pursue their passions and look good while doing it.”
In an exclusive interview with WWD, the actress and new mommy explained that the looks are less inspired by the labels worn by Olivia Pope, and more so by the leading lady herself:
“We weren’t inspired by any designers in particular because they are all original pieces that are authentic to the character and the world of the show. Personally, I have tons of favorite designers. I don’t gravitate toward any one designer because I think of fashion as the costume of the everyday woman.”
The line will retail from $49 to $248, and will be in stores as soon as September.
