Drake has hit a new high. This week, Toronto’s very own surpassed one of the biggest and most respected musical groups of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, The Beatles. His latest feature on ILoveMakonnen‘s “Tuesday” is the 72nd Hot 100 placement on the charts, which means that he’s #8 for most entries overall. Lady Gaga‘s latest collaborative effort with legendary singer Tony Bennett “Cheek to Cheek” just sold 131,000 copies and has taken the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The jazz album was released on September 19th and features duets, as well as solo songs from both artists. Congrats Gaga! [Just Jared]
Earlier this week, Childish Gambino released part 1 of his new project titled “STN MTN/KAUAI.” Part 1 featured remixes to some of Hip-Hop’s most notable songs including “Go DJ” by Lil Wayne. Now, the second part of his highly anticipated project is here. KAUAI takes on a more melodic approach, just think his most recent record “Sober.” Jaden Smith and Gambino’s younger brother Steve Glover have also made appearances on this side of the project. Pharrell has shared a teaser to his upcoming video for the Daft Punk-assisted track, Gust of Wind. The brief clip of the music video shows two giant replica helmets of which Daft Punk is known for. Gearing up for their sixth studio album as a collective, Wu-Tang Clan signed a contract with Warner Bros records. The group – which consists of 9 members – plans to release their new album, A Better Tomorrow, on December 2nd in light of their 20th anniversary. The group will do a special-edition release on November 14th, via a portable Bluetooth speaker. Boombox REX will be producing 3,000 speakers, which will sell for $79.99 and include one of the 8 songs. [Entertainment Weekly]
