Beyonce and Jay Z were one of the many celebrities to celebrate the 50th birthday of one of music’s number one publishers: Big Jon Platt.
The party took place on Sunday night at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, and Pharrell, Jermaine Dupri, Lenny S, DJ D-Nice, and many more turned up to toast the music business legend. Lenny S wrote one of the best tributes, saying:
There’s way too much great stuff to write about this guy right here so I’ll try to keep it short. BIG JON PLATT. If you’re in the entertainment biz & haven’t met him, don’t know him or don’t have a relationship with him, then you’re doin something wrong. I fortunately have known him my entire career, in & outside of the business. I’ve had the pleasure of calling him for advice, working with him and being mentored by him. His success is unbelievably inspiring & he’s one of the best guys you’ll ever meet, period. I can only say that I hope I’m half the man he is when I reach the Big 50! The music-publishing executive and former DJ is now President of North America for Warner/Chappell Music, after having spent 17 years at EMI Music Publishing.
