Christian Audigier, designer of Ed Hardy and Von Dutch, died at the age of 57 due to cancer.

From Gawker:

Audigier had been undergoing cancer treatment for Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a bone marrow disease, since April. Reportedly known as “Le Vif (The Fast One),” he slipped into a coma this week in Los Angeles and died Thursday.

Audigier was an accomplished designer and worked for Guess, Levi’s, Diesel, American Outfitters, XOXO and Bisou Bisou before launching his own lines, apparently with help from Justin Timberlake.

Still, his Ed Hardy and Von Dutch brands were often the subject of derision because of their popularity with a less-than-desirable segment of the male population. But it turns out the joke, she was on us: Audigier was reportedly worth around $250 million at the time of his death.

Christian is the man who brought us trucker hats and bedazzled jeans. May he rest in peace.
