Since Kanye West has taken a bit of a break from music, his design dreams have been flourishing. He’s finally put out his clothing line in stores, and recently debuted Yeezy Season 2 for adidas, which has been met with mixed reviews. But what’s not up for discussion are the dope sneakers Ye’s revealed since his partnership with adidas began. He’s finally creatively free to do whatever he wants, and the sneakers’ success is a testament to that genius.

Take a look at our ranking of Kanye’s best sneakers under the adidas umbrella.

1. Yeezy Boost 750

The Yeezy 750 boost is Kanye’s best adidas collaboration yet because it proves that he still had the juice after leaving Nike. The 750s are the least practical shoe he’s ever designed, but they show growth from the clunky basketball sneaker he created with the Swoosh. His taste and design cues have grown to a more mature, streamlined aesthetic. At $350, the pricepoint is a little over the top, but what do you expect from ‘Ye?

2. Yeezy Boost 350 “Gray

After debuting at the Yeezy Season 1 fashion show back in February, the shoe was initially clowned for so closely resembling the Nike Roshe run. But that didn’t stop Yeezus’ many disciples from clamoring over the sneakers when they dropped back in June. The lightweight, simple design was the perfect shoe to rock all summer. That light gray base with black stripes and a solid white sole was asking to be worn during the heat.

3. Yeezy Boost 350 “Black”

We all knew this was coming since Kanye has toned down his designs after the pink detailing on the Nike Yeezys, the over-the-top Louis Vuitton collaboration, and the e-riot inducing Red Octobers. Kanye has mellowed out and his simple all black Boost 350s were a perfect example of less being more. While most sneakers are offered in an all-black option, they usually come off looking like non-slip sneakers, with no discernible details of what made the shoe a smash hit even visible. Kanye avoided that with some Wolf Gray stitching throughout the entire upper, paired with gray laces. That way when you’re rocking Yeezys, everyone will know you’re rocking Yeezys.

4. Yeezy Boost 350 “Moonrock”

Sneaker fanatics went wild earlier this week when Kourtney Kardashian debuted a new colorway of the Yeezy Boost 350s. Any fan of the original Nike Yeezy 1s and 2s were immediately reminded of the Zen Gray colorway. Similar to those, the upper is gray and sole appears to be glow-in-dark. Though not confirmed, an entire glow-in-the-dark sole would be a little overkill. If it was just the outsole, it would stay much more true to Kanye’s current design ethos. Or maybe Kanye has taken the iconic “Cool Gray” Jordan colorway over to the three stripes.

5. Yeezy Boost 350 “White”

Kanye first previewed the white Yeezy Boost 350s back in August along with a super clean all-white outfit. Sadly, these didn’t drop in time for people to rock them heavily, but a release date could leak soon. It would be hard to wear a crisp pair of all-white sneakers in the winter, but that Labor Day rule might have to get thrown out for these. Kim recently previewed them on Instagram, which makes us hope they might be on the horizon after all.

6. Yeezy 950 Boots

Kanye’s Yeezy Boost 950 Duck boots might just be the most controversial pair of shoes he’s been behind. At the height of ‘Ye’s military grunge look, he was constantly seen rocking army combat boots, and decided to just design his own. The Yeezy 950 puts your typical L.L. Bean duck boots to shame; the entire sole is about an inch thick with a clunky toebox. Although they look extremely durable, it may be tough for even the most hardcore Yeezy fans to get behind these.
